THE PALM TREE..
Welcome to The Palm Tree website, thank you for popping by and we hope you like us and take the opportunity to enjoy a visit and discover Mersea Island...
We purchased our caravan in the winter of 2018 on an absolute whim! And that year we ripped out all the old decor, revamped the interior, landscaped the garden and enjoyed being by the sea...and now you can enjoy this too...
You will find a calm and cosy coastal theme with sea glimpses from the large window seat area, freshly made beds, fluffy towels and ocean scented candles along with ambient lighting indoors and out...
We have gated decking making it safe for children and dogs, we also offer the bonus of an enclosed garden, and it’s a real sun trap too! We have sun loungers and a picnic table for alfresco dining, made easy with a gas bbq!
We still love the feeling when we arrive! And our guest since 2019 are loving it too, as well as returning! We do use it frequently. For that reason we offer limited dates so don’t miss out on your escape to The Palm Tree and this lovely little Island.

DISCOVER MERSEA ISLAND...
We look forward to welcoming you, your plans might be a family holiday, a couples escape, a little fishing break or water sports enthusiasts, everyone’s holiday wish list is different and we think The Palm Tree adapts to whatever you are seeking.
One holiday home to suit so many different guest.
But it’s the location that makes us special....
Mersea Island and the surrounding area’s offer something for everyone.
For the history lover’s or shopaholics we are thirty minutes from Colchester. Colchester is steeped in history, has the beautiful Castle park, fantastic shop’s, great Christmas markets and plenty of restaurants and pubs. And let’s not forget Colchester has an award winning Zoo too!
Maldon is smaller and charming yet equally buzzing with plenty of shops and eateries but it’s the quay, boat’s and wonderful promenade park with it’s water splash zone that make it special.
Tiptree with it’s famous jam factory is worth a visit for tea and cakes, a slice of British jam making history!
But back on the Island, and you might find you won’t need to leave it, we have a vineyard for the grown ups, water sport centre for all ages and levels, boating lake and chartered boats that take you round the island with the option of speed or a leisurely sail. For the keen ramblers you can choose several different walks and the Island is relatively flat, excellent for cycling too. And let’s not forget the famous Mersea oysters that make their way to 5* London restaurants! Well you can enjoy them along with all the fresh catch of the day sitting on the shores where the trawler men bring them in, The Company Shed being just one of the eateries in West Mersea to feature on many a tv show or in magazines. And also, for those bringing their dogs for a holiday all the island’s beaches are dog friendly all year round.
And lastly, because you need to discover the island yourselves so I don’t want to write endlessly about it and lose your interest, the sunsets are amazing, grab the picnic blanket, some snacks and a drink, the beach is a few steps from The Palm Tree and enjoy!
